Homeward Bound of WNC is a Buncombe County nonprofit agency working with others to end the cycle of homelessness. The organization envisions a community where any person who is experiencing homelessness, regardless of characteristics or circumstances, can move directly into service-enriched permanent housing and become a productive member of society.
We are looking for temporary volunteers to accept, clean and sort donations from the public outside of Harrah's Cherokee Center.
Volunteer Roles:
- Accept Donations
- Sort Donations
- Clean Donations
- Load Donations onto Homeward Bound Truck
Volunteer Requirements:
- Please wear close toed shoes
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Bending, stooping, twisting, turning
- Customer service skills
Health and Safety:
- We are asking volunteers to wear/bring their own face covering
- Bandanna covering nose and mouth
- Cloth covering nose and mouth
- Fabric or disposable face mask
- Hand sanitizer available and hand washing sinks inside restrooms
- Asking volunteers to maintain physical distance of 6 feet or more when possible
- Note: there are times when the volunteer task may require volunteers to engage closer than 6 feet. Please do not sign up if you feel uncomfortable.
