What is Babies Need Bottoms?
Babies Need Bottoms is a nonprofit diaper bank serving families in Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Madison, McDowell and Transylvania Counties. The mission of Babies Need Bottoms is to improve the lives of babies, toddlers and caregivers in Western North Carolina through diaper distribution, community awareness, and community partnerships.
Babies Need Bottoms collects and distributes diapers to local families with diaper need through the following programs:
- Disposable Diaper Distribution Program: Partnering with local social service agencies to identify and meet diaper need for local families.
- Cloth Diaper Program: Providing gently used cloth diapers to local families facing diaper need.
Volunteer Need:
We are seeking volunteers with flexible schedules to join our "On Call" team to assist in unloading donated pallets of products and moving boxes to the Babies Need Bottoms warehouse space using hand-trucks and rolling carts.
Once or twice a month Babies Needs Bottoms receives donations shipped by freight truck. These deliveries are sent to us with little notice and often require a 4 hour - 24 hour turnaround. On occasion we are notified after deliveries are made.
Babies Need Bottoms staff will notify volunteers when an order is expected to arrive and ask volunteers to confirm availability. The warehouse space is located in the Asheville Outlet Mall. Deliveries typically occur between 10:00 am and 11:00 am. Detailed instructions will be sent to all volunteers who "Respond" to this opportunity within three business days.
Requirements:
- Transportation to the warehouse space
- Agrees to adhere to recommended safety precautions while moving supplies
- Can lift up to 25 lbs
- Bending, stooping, twisting
- Volunteer is asked to confirm availability through Babies Need Bottoms scheduling genius
Health and Safety:
- Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations available
- We are asking volunteers to wear/bring their own face covering
- Cloth covering nose and mouth
- Fabric or disposable face mask
- Asking volunteers to maintain physical distance of 6 feet or more when possible
- Note: there are times when the volunteer task requires volunteers to engage closer than 6 feet. Please do not sign up if you feel uncomfortable.
