Bountiful Cities- Southside Community Garden Event Support

Expired

Description

Before you even begin thinking about volunteering, ask yourself – Am I well enough to volunteer?

Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.

Bountiful Cities is looking for volunteers to help support a community celebration and fundraiser for the Southside Community Garden which, is located in a historically Black neighborhood that is under the threat of gentrification.  The goal of the garden is to create pathways to health and economic sustainability.

Passing Out Flyers

Volunteers are needed in advance of the event on Sunday, November 22nd from 1:30pm-4:30pm.  Volunteers will attend a training with some historical information about the neighborhood and best practices.  Volunteers will also hand out flyers in the neighborhood alerting community members and sharing the details of the event. The training will be held at the Edington Center at 1:30pm.  Passing out flyers will begin immediately after the training.

Southside Garden Event Support

The event will be on Tuesday, November 24th from 2pm-5pm at the Edington Center, located at 133 Livingston St. in Asheville as well as in the Southside Community Garden located directly behind the center. Volunteers are needed from 3:30 - 6:00 to assist in distributing pre-packaged food and assist with passing out apple cider.
