Read To Succeed Asheville/Buncombe is an Asheville-based nonprofit on a mission to close the race-based opportunity gap through community-powered literacy programming that engages children, families, and community partners.
We are looking for volunteers to be course marshals alongside us at the 44th Annual Thomas Wolfe 8k on Saturday, October 16th. For each volunteer who signs up to volunteer with Read to Succeed, the program will receive $15.

Time: 8:30am - 10:15am
Location: 31 Woodfin Street Asheville, North Carolina 28801
Volunteer Roles:
- Direct runners along course race
- Halt traffic when runners are passing by
Volunteer Requirements:
- "Respond" to this opportunity and receive the schedule link to schedule your shift
- Select "Course Marshal" after the schedule link is emailed to you
- Walking/Standing for the duration of the shift
- Comfortable directing traffic
Health and Safety:
Course marshals will be standing outside individually directing traffic so there is no requirement for a mask or proof of vaccine; however, please feel free to bring a mask and hand sanitizer at your own discretion.
