We Give A Share is a non-profit that provides a platform for local farms to grow and produce food to be used to feed the under-served. We are connecting Asheville chefs, farms and our greater community to serve fresh food to those who need it most.
We Give a Share is looking for volunteers to join the meal prep team at the Southside Kitchen and prepare wholesome food for delivery to those in the community who need it most.
Available Shifts Occur:
- Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Location:
Edington Center - Southside Kitchen

Asheville, NC 28801
Volunteer Roles:
- Taking instruction and guidance from kitchen staff
- Performing preparation duties such as rinsing, peeling, slicing, and dicing fruit and vegetables
- Weighing and measuring ingredients
- Following established recipes to prepare menu items
- Following guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control
- Loading prepared food into the delivery van as needed
Volunteer Requirements:
- Respond to secure your volunteer slot
- Ability to stand for up to 3 hours at a time
- Must be 18 to volunteer
- Must wear closed-toed shoes
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines
- Ability to stand for the duration of shift
- Bending, twisting, stooping
- Ability to lift up to 15lbs
- Complete all onboarding requirements
- Sign We Give A Share waiver
- Take a tour of the kitchen and facilities
- Review and adhere to all safety guidelines
Health and Safety:
- Frequent hand washing required
- We are asking volunteers to wear a disposable face mask while in the kitchen and building
- Asking volunteers to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or more when possible
- Note: there are times when the volunteer task may require a volunteer to engage closer than 6 feet. Please do not sign up if you feel uncomfortable.
