Before you begin thinking about volunteering, ask yourself – Am I well enough to volunteer?
Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.
Help United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County (UWABC) assemble 350 total build-a-kits through a unique at-home project fighting food insecurity and providing some winter attire to our students, all supplies provided! These kits will include both a snack pack and a winter hat. Simply respond to this opportunity, drop by our office during set hours to pick up the materials, assemble your kits at home, and return them to our office. It's that easy!
Volunteers will be responsible for assembling snack pack bundles Each bundle will consist of materials to put together 25 Snack packs; volunteers can sign up for multiple bundles if they wish. Our goal is to supply at least 350 total snack packs to our local community schools. After assembling snack packs, volunteers will drop them off at the UWABC office at designated times communicated by Max Murray, the site supervisor. If volunteers would prefer to purchase their own materials, the site supervisor can provide a list of approved supplies.
