As a United for Youth Partner supported by United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, Montford North Star Academy partners with community organizations to provide students and families with resources, opportunities, and supports for success. Our school provides opportunities to create strong ties among families, students, schools, and the community while serving as academic and social centers to support innovative learning.
We are looking for up to 25 volunteers anytime from 1pm-5pm on Tuesday, August 22nd for a day of cleanup at our school. Can't make the whole shift, come when you can. We want students to feel welcomed in a clean and beautiful setting as they return in the fall.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Help dispose of weeds in garden beds and planters
- Pick up litter around the building and common areas
- Distribute mulch in garden beds
- Various tasks related to clean up as needed
Special Request - If you have garden tools, please bring any of the following:
- Garden Gloves
- Wheelbarrows
- Shovels
- Weeding tools
Requirements:

Skills Required:
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Bending, twisting, stooping
- Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
- Working with gardening tools
Attire:
- Wear clothes that are comfortable and let you move freely
- Dress for the weather forecast
- Comfortable, close-toed shoes
