Before you even begin thinking about volunteering, ask yourself – Am I well enough to volunteer?
The Downtown Welcome Table is a restaurant style meal where everyone is welcome to the table to experience a dignifying, abundant meal served on East Fork Pottery with freshly rolled linens and silverware.
When you come to serve at Haywood Street you are invited to be a Companion rather than a volunteer. You are invited to "be with" before you "do for." As a companion you can serve as a table server, you can work in our kitchen preparing plates, help clean the dishes in the dish-room or simply sit down and enjoy a meal with a neighbor.
Breakfast on Sundays is served 8:30-10:30, Companions are needed 7-12. Lunch on Wednesdays is served 10:00-12:00 and companions are needed at various times between 7-2. On Tuesdays and Thursday prep for the meals is 9-12 in the dining room and kitchen.
