In partnership with the City of Asheville and Buncombe County, United Way of Asheville Buncombe County is opening a warehouse distribution site in South Asheville to support the work of our community partners and organizations.
We are collecting food, water, and other essential resources. We need volunteers who are experienced and comfortable driving a forklift to help us move donations and supplies in the warehouse.
The warehouse is located at 6 Commerce Way, Arden 28704. The warehouse is located off 191/Brevard Road.
Passable Route: I-26 to Exit 37 - Long Shoals Road (Do NOT take exit 33 as instructed by Google Maps). Go west on Long Shoals (NC-146 W) - if you are coming from Asheville, you will turn RIGHT on Long Shoals; if you are coming from the south, you will turn LEFT on Long Shoals. Turn right onto NC-191 N/Brevard Rd. Go Go past ABCCM and Turn left onto Commerce Way. Take the first left; parking lot is immediately on the left.

Please do not come into Western North Carolina to volunteer at this time. We will have time in the future when we need you. We will be sure to let you know on our when those opportunities arise for those outside our community to volunteer.
Volunteer Responsibilities
Requirements:
You will need to bring documentation of your ability to drive a forklift
Comfortable with bending, stooping, walking and twisting
Adhere to all safety measures
Ability to stand for long periods
Work in teams and follow instructions from team leaders
Attire:
Wear appropriate protective gear (gloves, sturdy shoes)

Directions: Enter site from Long Shoals Rd to 191/Brevard Rd, turn right on Commerce Way go 1/3 of a mile down
Health and Safety:
Restrooms will be available
Water for volunteers available, stay hydrated and take regular breaks
Limited cell phone and WIFI access
Please bring a snack if you are able, food for volunteers while working not guaranteed
Some roads may be closed please follow directions above
