Hood Huggers Foundation grew from the creative and community-building work of co-founders DeWayne Barton and Safi Mahaba, best known for the iconic Hood Tours. To carry their vision forward, they expanded under the Hood Huggers umbrella, which now includes both a nonprofit and a social enterprise branch. The Hood Huggers Foundation works to restore the grassroots regenerative well-being of our communities through the arts, the environment, and social enterprise. We bring this mission to life through micro-farming initiatives, workforce development programs, and the building of Blue Note Junction. We're a proud grassroots organization—and we do a lot! Stay tuned for the launch of our new website.
We need volunteer drivers who are willing to transport participants in our workforce development programs to and from job sites or classes.
