Dear Friend:
The holidays are right around the corner and Irene Wortham Center needs your help to make this upcoming season special for the families we serve. For many of us, the holiday season means cherished memories with family and friends, gift-giving, and festive food. However, for families who are economically challenged, the holidays can be especially tough. Many of our parents and guardians are faced with unemployment, uncertain living situations, and mounting medical bills. Working together, we can make sure this upcoming yuletide season is filled with love and hope for the families of the children at our Early Learning Center.
At the Irene Wortham Early Learning Center, children aged six-weeks to five-years-old learn, play and grow in an inclusive setting. The Center currently serves more than 90 children, with 95% living at or below the poverty level. About half of the children are also coping with significant disabilities.
To assist their families, we partner with local businesses and individuals to provide each child clothes and gifts during the holiday season. We encourage you to join Irene’s Elves by “adopting” a child and fulfilling his or her wish list. Some of the items our children especially cherish include:
Toys and books
Warm Clothes and Coats (sizes 0-6x)
Shoes or boots
You may also participate by making a monetary donation, then IWC staff will purchase the items for you. Or, a team of Elves might host a toy or coat drive at their business, school, or church and we will distribute the donations as needed.
Donations will be due at our office by December 7th.
Thank you in advance for your generosity this holiday season.
