The Salvation Army in Asheville is a nonprofit organization, an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, working in Buncombe County to serve people in need of food, clothing, and shelter. The mission of The Salvation Army is to meet human needs with love and compassion.
We are looking for volunteers to assist in small maintenance projects around our Center of Hope Facility.
Shifts are Monday and Tuesday and run approximately 4 hours between 9:00 and 5:00. Volunteers are welcome to choose one, consecutive, or multiple shifts.
Volunteer Roles Include:
- Assisting in small projects around the facility - Examples include:
- Changing light bulbs
- Small paint jobs
- Light plumbing
- Minor repairs
Volunteer Requirements:
- Respond to secure your volunteer slot
- Maintain confidentiality of Salvation Army clients
- Excellent in customer service
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Must be ages 18-64 to volunteer
- Preferred: individual with background in light maintenance work
Health and Safety:
- Hand washing sinks and hand sanitizer available
- We are asking volunteers to wear/bring their own face covering if they have their own
- Bandanna covering nose and mouth
- Cloth covering nose and mouth
- Fabric or disposable face mask
- Asking volunteers to maintain physical distance of 6 feet or more when possible
- Note: there are times when the volunteer task may require volunteers to engage closer than 6 feet. Please do not sign up if you feel uncomfortable.
