The Salvation Army in Asheville is a nonprofit organization, an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church, working in Buncombe County to serve people in need of food, clothing, and shelter. The mission of The Salvation Army is to meet human needs with love and compassion.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with cooking and food prep for the residents currently residing in the shelter.
Weekly Shifts Occur:
- Monday 3pm-5pm
- Tuesday 9am-1pm & 1pm-5pm
- Wednesday 9am-1pm & 1pm-5pm
Volunteer Roles Include:
- Prepping and Cooking food for residents
Volunteer Requirements:
- Respond to secure your volunteer slot
- Maintains confidentiality of Salvation Army clients
- Excellent with customer service
- Ability to stand and cook for 3.5 hours at a time
- Must be ages 18-64 to volunteer
Health and Safety:
- Hand washing sinks and hand sanitizer available
- We are asking volunteers to wear/bring their own face covering
- Bandanna covering nose and mouth
- Cloth covering nose and mouth
- Fabric or disposable face mask
- Asking volunteers to maintain physical distance of 6 feet or more when possible
- Note: there are times when the volunteer task may require a volunteer to engage closer than 6 feet. Please do not sign up if you feel uncomfortable.
