Before you even begin thinking about volunteering, ask yourself – Am I well enough to volunteer?
Your safety and limiting the spread of COVID-19 is everyone’s main priority. We encourage you to review and adhere to the recommendations on the Buncombe County readiness site on how best to avoid COVID-19 and what to do if you think you might have it.
Food Connection eases hunger, reduces waste and supports our local food industry by redistributing surplus prepared food to serve our neighbors in need.
We are seeking volunteers to help make sure food is not wasted. Volunteers will repackage rescued food from Ridgecrest Conference Center in Black Mountain. If you have experience using a spoon or spatula then you can be a part of our team!
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Transfer food from the kitchen pans to our recyclable aluminum pans for transport.
- If able, transport food to a recipient after packing (make sure to bring a tablecloth or blanket for the back of your vehicle)
At this time we are not consistent weekly with shifts, but generally we are out at least 2x a week, if not 3x (M-W-F). The time commitment varies by the amount of food there is to rescue and ranges from 1.5 to 3 hours.
Location:
Ridgecrest Conference Center
1 Ridgecrest Dr.

Volunteer Requirements:
- Respond to secure your volunteer slot
